Bengals WR John Ross may present a trade option for Titans

The Tennessee Titans enter the mid-March free agency period and the 2019 NFL Draft with the addition of depth at wide receiver placed highly on the priority list.

In the 2017 NFL Draft, Titans GM Jon Robinson chose wideout Corey Davis with the No. 5 overall pick. But John Ross and Mike Williams were two other names the Titans were closely considering.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Bengals, who chose the former with the ninth overall pick, are expected to shop Ross in the near future.

The receiver would instantly bring speed to the position on any team, which is certainly something the Titans could use as they try to bring a gradually rising offense up another notch.

Ross has potential, but hasn’t been used particularly much in the Cincinnati offense.

Over two seasons, Ross has recorded 21 receptions for 210 yards and seven touchdowns.

If the Titans do acquire Ross, he won’t instantly cure the team’s problems on offense. They’ll still need to add a big-name playmaker, but he will bring competition to the WR group, and will probably prove the be the fastest of the corps.

Ross may not have been the best option for the Titans in the 2017 NFL Draft, but it wouldn’t be the worst idea for Robinson to take him if Cincinnati is willing to let him go for a late-round pick.
