Bengals will play Vontaze Burfict’s Raiders in Oakland next season

The Cincinnati Bengals’ trip to Oakland for a date with the Raiders just got quite a bit more meaningful.

Those Bengals decided to cut ties with former star linebacker Vontaze Burfict, who needed all of about 24 hours to find a new job — with the Raiders.

It was a perfect fit for Burfict, who rejoins former Bengals defensive coordinator Paul Guenther. Oddly enough, it was also an odd fit considering former Pittsburgh Steelers wideout Antonio Brown is on the same roster.

For what it’s worth, both Brown and Burfict have already addressed the topic and seem to be getting along just fine.

Anyway, the Bengals now have to experience something every team in the league had to worry about while Burfict played in Cincinnati for seven seasons — his recklessness.

He’s addressed it already:

It should be interesting to see if Burfict can rediscover some of his old form and stay on the field now that he’s back with Guenther.

For the Bengals, it complicates the task of beating a Raiders team that already drastically improved with Brown, Trent Brown and has yet to add a trio of first-round picks.

While friends with a lot of the guys, Burfict will probably be looking for revenge on the team that cut him.
