Bengals vs. Jets inactives: Corey Davis officially out, C.J. Mosley returns for New York

The Jets will be without their No. 1 wide receiver when they take on the upstart Bengals on Sunday afternoon, as Corey Davis is officially inactive.

Davis suffered a hip flexor injury in practice on Thursday, immediately placing his status for Week 9 in doubt and ultimately forcing him to the sideline for the first time in his Jets career. Davis is New York’s leading receiver with 24 catches for 349 yards and four touchdowns in six games.

Denzel Mims is primed to take on an increased role on the outside with Davis out. Mims has been scarcely used this season due to a lack of fit in Mike LaFleur’s west coast offense, catching just four passes for 79 yards in three games.

C.J. Mosley is active for the Jets after missing last weekend’s 41-point loss to the Patriots with a hamstring injury. New York missed Mosely in the middle of its defense dearly, as New England’s running backs rushed for 127 yards and four touchdowns. Mosley’s return bolsters a Jets linebacker room recently ravaged by injuries. Jarrad Davis is also set to make his season debut after suffering an injury during the preseason.

The Bengals come to MetLife Stadium mostly healthy, as all of their inactives are reserve players.
