Bengals’ Trayveon Williams left NFL debut with rib injury

Cincinnati Bengals rookie running back Trayveon Williams had a huge opportunity in the first week of the preseason against the Kansas City Chiefs.

With Giovani Bernard and Joe Mixon watching from the sidelines, Williams took one of his five carries for a touchdown and caught a pass for 13 yards.

But later, Williams had to leave the game due to injury, per the team:  “INJURY UPDATE: RB Trayveon Williams reported with bruised rib and declared out.”

It is an unfortunate turn of events for Williams, as it is a tricky injury to have with the team needing to have a quick turnaround before a Thursday game against Washington.

Based on what Williams flashed though, the coaching staff surely saw enough to be comfortable with him as their third running back. Unless this ends up worse than initially reported, it pales in comparison to the outlook for the Clayton Fejedelem injury.
