Bengals trade up for Kyler Murray in new 2019 NFL mock draft

The Cincinnati Bengals continue to become a likelier quarterback destination in the general public’s opinion ahead of the 2019 NFL draft.

Quarterback has always been an option, though. While new head coach Zac Taylor defended Andy Dalton, he also said everything is on the table. Owner Mike Brown has said 2019 is a prove-it year for Dalton. Mock drafts have simply caught up and consider the Bengals a wild card now.

A new one is incredibly interesting though. Brad Gagnon at Bleacher Report has the Bengals striking a trade with the New York Jets (who traded the third pick to the other New York team in this scenario) for the sixth pick, where they take a freefalling Kyler Murray: “They could probably make this swap with the motivated Jets for nothing more than their second-round pick, and it’d give them a chance to regain relevance in a division that has recently left them for dead (again).”

Everyone knows the Murray story by now. The most electric weapon in college football and Heisman Trophy winner chose football over baseball. But not everyone buys the idea the Arizona Cardinals will take him first overall and trade away Josh Rosen.

There is an outside chance Murray makes a slight fall, though this dip is more realistic than the Bengals trading up.  Director of player personnel Duke Tobin recently spoke out against the idea of trading up and history says the front office is much more likely to move down.

Then again, the front office has been willing to bend and do whatever Taylor wants since he’s arrived. If Taylor wants Murray and the Oklahoma quarterback is sliding, things could get interesting in Cincinnati.
