The Cincinnati Bengals are planning to workout Minnesota State kicker Casey Bednarksi, a former pizza man and junior college transfer, a Pro Football Weekly and Yahoo! Sports’ Eric Edholm reports.
A story of a player coming up and rising through the ranks after initially being discarded is exactly that of Casey Bednarksi. However, don’t think that Bednarksi can’t play because of his background.
During his time at the D-2 college, Bednarksi set the record for single-season points by a kicker. He even kicked a game-winning 37-yard field goal in the first round of the D-2 NCAA Tournament.
Also nominated for many awards, Bednarksi made his few seasons at Minnesota State certainly worthwhile. Now, he’ll at least get a shot at making his dream a reality and kicking in the NFL.
This is a great story and development that will be watched as Cincinnati tries to fix their kicking woes in the upcoming NFL Draft.
