Bengals think they got a steal with B.W. Webb

On first pass, the Cincinnati Bengals adding B.W. Webb seemed like a familiarity move on the chance they couldn’t get back Darqueze Dennard in free agency.

And while it is still a familiarity move, new Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo is entrusting Webb with a big role this summer.

“It was very important to get him here, because I can trust him,” Anarumo said, according to Bengals.com. “He can help coach the other guys about the little nuisances of the defense. He knows what I want and how I want it done, and that is a huge help for me.”

Webb has played for a host of different teams over the course of his career but finally seems to have some solid ground with the Bengals after inking a three-year deal.

And while the Bengals did get Dennard back on a one-year pact, Webb’s former play alongside Anarumo in New York got him the longer deal and a notable role.

Even if Webb doesn’t see a ton of playing time on the field next year because of the depth at his position, it could end up being a win for the team based on the work he can do behind the scenes while installing a new coordinator’s looks.
