Bengals star A.J. Green sheds boot, excited for future with Zac Taylor at helm

Cincinnati Bengals star A.J. Green recently shed his walking boot and also discussed his excitement for the future of the organization.

Green was initially put in the walking boot after surgery on his big toe in December. Missing seven games and tallying just under 700 yards, Green was on target for his seventh 1,000-yard season until the injury.

Also being snubbed a Pro Bowl nomination, Green should be hungrier than ever to return. However, this time it will be with a new man captaining the ship.

The Cincinnati Bengals recently hired the former Los Angeles Rams’ quarterback coach Zac Taylor. Taylor, just 35 years old, has only five years on Green.

That didn’t stop Green from displaying his excitement for the change in leadership. He described what he loves about Taylor’s outlook on the game to Bengals.com’s senior writer Geoff Hobson.

“I’ve heard great things,” Green said of Taylor. “The way they run the ball sets up the pass game. I love it. I love the play-action. It’s fun to get back in that kind of offense. I loved playing for Jay. I had my best years with Jay.”

The Bengals seem rejuvenated and excited to have a young, risk-taking head coach leading the team. Let’s just hope that translates to wins on the field. Green showing love while shedding the boot is certainly a step in the right direction.
