Bengals stand pat, don’t make any trades before deadline

The Cincinnati Bengals went the predictable route after the stunner that was deciding to bench Andy Dalton and didn’t make a single move at the NFL trade deadline.

Zac Taylor did hit the podium to talk about choosing Ryan Finley over Dalton coming out of the bye.

But besides the big change under center, nothing for the Bengals. Based on team history this seemed likely, obviously. But at the same time, the Cordy Glenn situation suggested he might get moved for almost anything and an end-of-contract player like Tyler Eifert seemed like a possibility to move — especially with the New England Patriots reportedly interested.

Generally speaking, it was a quiet trade deadline across the league. Teams like Washington didn’t move Trent Williams after dragging feet.

The Bengals file into their own column, where a reluctance to trade proven players and a probable lack of meaningful return offered by other teams created a mix of inaction, though the phones were likely ringing.
