The Cincinnati Bengals wrapped up their 2019 draft class Thursday by inking Germaine Pratt to his rookie deal.
A third-round pick this year, Pratt was at one point just one of 25 rookies who had yet to sign his contract, though mid-round picks commonly hit some hiccups in the language of deals.
Despite not putting ink to paper, Pratt had been out there with the team practicing during OTAs and minicamp. He’s expected to have a large role as a rookie thanks to his natural coverage skills as a transplant from the safety position.
The Bengals have made it clear they hope Pratt is some sort of mix between Brian Simmons and Vontaze Burfict, which would provide an obvious boost to one of the team’s bigger problem areas.
