Bengals shoved aside as longshots in AFC North

It is a good thing Cincinnati Bengals players like the idea of playing the underdog.

According to new odds released from BetOnline, via The Athletic’s Jay Morrison, the Bengals check in with the worst odds to win the AFC North this year.

This isn’t too out of the ordinary at this point. Odds released at the start of the month said the Bengals have the second-worst odds in the AFC to make the playoffs, above only Miami. Post-draft win totals weren’t exactly kind either.

Still, it is interesting to see the Bengals rated so lowly by oddsmakers in a division undergoing massive change. Baltimore is rightfully respected in this regard but lost a ton of talent on the defensive side of the ball. Pittsburgh lost Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown. Cleveland is arguably the most popular team in the NFL right now but hasn’t actually won anything on the field yet.

Which isn’t to say the Bengals are in a better spot than any of them. There is a huge unknown when it comes to a new coaching staff taking over a team regardless of how talented the roster looks.

But at this sort of payout, the Bengals don’t feel like such a terrible gamble — if this offseason has taught NFL fans anything, it’s that anything can happen.
