Bengals set for full pads and contact starting with Tuesday’s practice

Zac Taylor has the Cincinnati Bengals getting serious before a break in the training camp action.

According to The Athletic’s Jay Morrison, Taylor will have the Bengals in full pads on Tuesday for a dose of contact:

Zac Taylor said Tuesday and Wednesday will be full pads and full contact (minus taking call carriers to the ground) ahead of Thursday’s off day.

He said there may be some live tackling at the end of the Wednesday’s practice.

Contact is a necessary escalation ahead of preseason games, yet scary nonetheless given the injuries the Bengals have already sustained with A.J. Green and Jonah Williams, for starters.

Even so, Taylor has stressed an emphasis on player health and readiness for the season, hence what could be a lighter than usual overall workload.

Still, the necessary escalation has to happen — and Tuesday marks the beginning.
