Bengals secondary overwhelmed with injuries going into Week 7

Injuries have been a common theme for the Cincinnati Bengals since the first week of rookie camp.

The trend has continued through Week 6 — especially in the secondary.

During a loss to Baltimore, safety Shawn Williams played through an issue and went until the swelling forced him from the lineup. Corner B.W. Webb is playing with a cast on a fractured forearm. Darqueze Dennard is on the PUP. Darius Phillips is on IR.

Also during the loss to Baltimore, Dre Kirkpatrick left on a cart and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported he could miss weeks. Also lost in the shuffle was a note that William Jackson popped his shoulder back into place after missing some time and got back out there.

Jackson’s injury is the newest topic — he’ll miss a few weeks at least, according to a report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

The Bengals will activate Dennard off the PUP this week if he looks good in practice and it sounds like he’s been ready to go for a few weeks. But it’s almost impossible to replace two starters, so the injuries could mean plenty of snaps for Tony McRae, if not Torry McTyer.
