Bengals say RT Riley Reiff likely out for season

The Cincinnati Bengals don’t anticipate having right tackle Riley Reiff at all for the rest of the season.

Cincinnati put Reiff on injured reserve earlier in the week due to an angle injury. But league rules say a player can come back off that list after three games, which originally meant Reiff might be able to return for the team’s season-ending game in Clevland on January 9.

Instead, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor told the media on Friday that Reiff will likely miss all four remaining games because of his worsening ankle injury, as captured by Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic:

After missing one game, Reiff got back on the field last week and re-aggravated the injury. He was a free-agent signing by the team this past offseason and a big upgrade at right tackle.

Obviously, no word on if Reiff would be able to go should the Bengals make the playoffs. But this makes things harder on the offense and the long-term outlook, as a combination of Isaiah Prince and Fred Johnson will start in the spot for the remainder of the season.
