Bengals roster turnover continues as Tyler Eifert, Nick Vigil find new homes

The Cincinnati Bengals lost two more notable players to free agency Tuesday.

Linebacker Nick Vigil reportedly agreed to a deal with the Los Angeles Chargers and tight end Tyler Eifert did the same with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Neither registers as a surprise from a Bengals perspective. Vigil, a third-round pick in 2016, struggled mightily at points last year and missed nearly 16 percent of his tackles while opponents picked on him in the passing game.

Eifert got some publicity last season for playing all 16 games — but he played just 45 percent of the snaps and had a quiet year. He wasn’t a big part of Zac Taylor’s plan and said plan now figures to feature second-round pick Drew Sample in a bigger capacity.

In past years, Cincinnati dipping back into the well with these guys would’ve been the predictable move. But this offseason has had a different vibe that feels like a head coach has been granted permission to overhaul his roster where desired.
