Bengals rookie RB Trayveon Williams made the most of his minicamp chances

Trayveon Williams said he was going to have a Day 1 impact with the Cincinnati Bengals.

He sure wasn’t wrong.

Coming out of the mandatory minicamp session before the summer break, it is the sixth-round rookie who stands tallest at the position.

Williams was in for a ton of work over the spring in OTAs when Joe Mixon was out and put up noteworthy reps in minicamp while fellow rookie Rodney Anderson remains watching from afar as he recovers.

The Athletic’s Jay Morrison noted an exclamation point of sorts for Williams: “He capped his solid offseason with a juggling catch for a touchdown in Thursday’s final practice.”

Williams will still have to fend off Giovani Bernard for looks behind Mixon by the time the regular season rolls around — but he’s made the most of his chances so far.

The guy who said the “league will pay” after he fell to the sixth round appears right on track.
