Bengals receive notable PFF grades after big win over Lions

The Cincinnati Bengals had some players receive huge grades from Pro Football Focus during the team’s big win over the Detroit Lions in Week 6.

Looking at the snap counts, it seems almost everybody got in on the action during the blowout — but only a few players received top-tier grades.

On offense, one of those was rookie guard Jackson Carman, who got in on 23 snaps before leaving with an illness, posting an 87.2 overall grade — not bad for a guy who didn’t get to practice all week.

Right behind him was rookie back Chris Evans, who scored a receiving touchdown and looked good as a rusher, earning an 85.6 overall grade. Joe Burrow, while throwing three scores, checked in right behind him at 76.2.

Left guard Quinton Spain led the way for offensive linemen who played starter-level snaps, earning a superb 89.6 grade. Rookie Trey Hill, initially making the start at right guard before getting pulled, earned a 64.9 grade.

As usual, it’s corner Chidobe Awuzie charting with a strong grade for the defense with his 86.0 grade. And D.J. Reader was once again strong in the middle at 85.3. Pass-rusher Trey Hendrickson was 10th on the defense at 68.2 despite a good-looking game, with his pass-rush grade a team-high at 72.5.

If nothing else, the grades show there’s still work to be done along the offensive line but that the unit as a whole has nice depth. Plus, Awuzie is a huge steal from free agency alongside Reader, who continues to quietly play at an elite level now that he’s back from injury.
