Bengals receive ‘A’ grade for Logan Wilson pick

Another pick for the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2020 NFL draft, another case of “B or Better” for a front office just knocking it out of the park through three rounds.

Round 3 started with the Bengals at the top grabbing Wyoming linebacker Logan Wilson.

Like Joe Burrow and Tee Higgins before him, Wilson fills a big need on the roster. He’s a big, fast athlete with three-year captain status on his resume and showed the Bengals coaching staff at the Senior Bowl why he’s capable of having an impact early.

From a sheer production standpoint, we’re talking about a linebacker who put up 94 or more tackles in four consecutive seasons with seven sacks, 10 interceptions and 14 passes defensed.

We’re also talking about this:

There’s no reality where this isn’t an “A” grade at the top of the third round. Wilson can help alongside Germaine Pratt right away while otherwise serving as a standout on special teams.

Yes, there were other notable names on the board. But by this point, offensive tackle Josh Jones was in freefall for a reason and defensive tackle with Justin Madubuike just wasn’t as big of a need. Zack Baun taking a major fall is also a red flag.

Viewed as a “safe” pick or not, the Bengals just got better and technically might’ve grabbed a “starter” at 65, which is about as much as fans can ask for there.
