Bengals re-sign John Jerry, shift O’Shea Dugas to injured reserve

The Cincinnati Bengals brought back veteran guard John Jerry Monday, moving rookie tackle O’Shea Dugas to injured reserve. The team also signed Wyatt Miller to the practice squad, the team announced.

Jerry was an unsurprising cut as the Bengals moved to 53 players because of his struggles in the final preseason game. But Monday’s moves make it clear the cut was simply a way for the team to stash Dugas on injured reserve so that he’s eligible to return.

That means Jerry is the backup swing tackle alongside Andre Smith, with Bobby Hart and Cordy Glenn still positioned as the starters.

Glenn, though, remains in concussion protocol as of this move. If he can’t go, Andre Smith starts at left tackle.

Jerry was a former Jim Turner understudy and has taken snaps at interior spots and both tackle positions this summer.
