The Cincinnati Bengals won’t go out of their intended maintenance cycle of Paycor Stadium’s turf field.
The Bengals faced pressure from the NFLPA last year when it called upon Cincinnati and six other teams to remove their current turf fields that apparently have higher injury rates for players.
“It’s not this year certainly. I don’t have statistics, but I really don’t think our turf has been a huge problem. Or a problem at all, to be quite honest,” Bengals executive vice president Katie Blackburn told Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Cincinnati uses slit-film turf, which by design has slits in each individual blade of grass. Others use monofilament (single blades) or dual fiber (mix of the two).
Detroit, one of the seven teams named by the NFLPA last year, has announced it will move away from its slit-film playing field.
