Cincinnati Bengals players seemed to find out about the same time as the rest of the world that the team will bench Andy Dalton for rookie Ryan Finley after the bye.
Bengals players had meetings ahead of a coach press conference at 2:30 on the Tuesday of the trade deadline and found out then, per Ben Baby of ESPN.
And WCPO’s Laurel Pfahler caught up with Tyler Boyd:
“Tyler Boyd, who sits next to Andy Dalton in the Bengals locker room, said everything seemed normal with Dalton when they first came in today so the news of his benching was unexpected.”
And perhaps the most interesting detail:
It is a suddenly jarring time of change for the Bengals, which started right before the 4 p.m. trade deadline.
