Per online sportsbook Bet Online, the Cincinnati Bengals have opened as 7.5-point underdogs in their Week 1 matchup on the road against the Seattle Seahawks.
The Redskins-Eagles and Patriots-Giants are the only matchups with a larger spread than the Bengals-Seahawks. However, given how dominant the Seahawks have been over the years in their first game, this spread isn’t shocking.
They’ve won by an average of over 16 points per game in home openers.
For football, that’s a margin not oftentimes seen. Combine their dominance with the Bengals operating under a first-year head coach and it’s easy to understand the spread.
This will obviously be subject to change after the 2019 NFL Draft, a draft that could be drama-filled for the Bengals.
