Bengals news: Kent Perkins waived, Zac Taylor updates attendance sheet for Thursday

The Cincinnati Bengals have a few interesting headlines to keep tabs on during what should be a quiet Wednesday before a Thursday night kickoff.

Kent Perkins waived: A college free agent in 2017, Perkins told the Bengals he intends to retire so they waived him. The sudden move doesn’t hurt the depth along the line too much, not with Andre Smith capable of playing swing backup and John Jerry taking some snaps at right tackle during the team’s first preseason game.

Alex Redmond gets some work: Redmond might be suspended for the first four games of the regular season, but he’s been out there in camp after getting cleared this week. Tuesday, he lined up as a second-team left guard, per Jay Morrison of The Athletic. Right guard is wrapped up by John Miller and rookie Michael Jordan is getting snaps at left guard with the first team.

Attendance talk: Tuesday, Zac Taylor was noncommital on whether Tyler Eifert and Geno Atkins would play Thursday. Running backs Giovani Bernard and Joe Mixon will be available. Carl Lawson and rookie back Rodney Anderson won’t play until Week 3.
