Bengals news: Ja’Marr Chase injury update, attempted waiver wire claim

The Cincinnati Bengals got back to practice on Tuesday before the December 23 AFC North showdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

That meant the team getting back to practice and some notes from that, plus guys like Bengals head coach Zac Taylor getting in front of cameras for interviews.

As expected, the biggest news item of the day was the latest in the Ja’Marr Chase injury saga.

But also of major note was the Bengals attempting to make a claim on the waiver wire to bolster a position of need before this season-ending stretch.

Here’s a look at the must-know Bengals news, notes and quotes for December 20.

Ja'Marr Chase injury update

Despite a report saying Chase will miss at least one game, Taylor wasn’t ready to rule the star wideout out. In fact, he went as far as saying they would take things by the day. Maybe they’re just trying to keep the Steelers guessing, but Chase isn’t technically out yet.

Waiver wire note

It turns out the Bengals attempted to claim defensive tackle Teair Tart on the waiver wire after his release from the Titans, which certainly makes a lot of sense after DJ Reader was lost for the season due to injury.

Jersey combo

It’s jersey combo time — and the Bengals will roll out a uniform they’re 6-3 in when they take on the Steelers…and that includes the combo boasting a three-game winning streak.

Tanner Hudson's breakout

Just like that, the Bengals happen to have the NFL’s highest-graded tight end since Week 13…

Browning's regret -- Bengals.com

Bengals quarterback Jake Browning says he regrets the viral moment that was him yelling into the camera about the Vikings cutting him because it took the spotlight off his teammates: “And then I throw the ball up to Tee (Higgins) and he makes one of the craziest plays I’ve ever seen. And then I have an authentic reaction. You keep it all pent up and then it comes out. But I guess my biggest regret was that game turned into like my revenge game, when in reality there were so many things that went into getting that win. Making sure it’s acknowledged it wasn’t just my revenge game, it was a great team win.”
