Bengals injury report: William Jackson suffered minor practice setback, John Ross out

In a bit of late-developing news, the Cincinnati Bengals won’t have star corner William Jackson on the field for Saturday night’s preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The team’s official website revealed the development: “Starting right cornerback William Jackson got a tweak in Thursday’s practice and it’s considered minor, but it got him scratched from Saturday’s game. B.W. Webb.”

Webb is usually an inside guy but will get a shot on the outside as a result after a stellar sprint since joining the team in large part thanks to his prior connection to Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo.

Elsewhere, the Bengals are indeed holding out John Ross and a host of others, according to Tyler Dragon of the Cincinnati Enquirer:

Ryan Glasgow gets the nod in place of Geno Atkins and John Jerry will start at left guard, though a laundry list of names should work through that spot as the night continues.

Bengals coaches have prepped for this all week, stressing that tonight will be about the young players, as starters will only see limited action in the opening quarter.
