Bengals injury report: Growing concern about Darqueze Dennard, John Ross day-to-day

The Cincinnati Bengals continue to take a cautious approach with their players this offseason, which makes sense given the injuries already suffered by high-profile guys like Jonah Williams and A.J. Green.

That means no John Ross on the field Thursday night against the Washington Redskins, with head coach Zac Taylor telling the media the following: “It’s day-to-day with John. I’m hopeful that it’s Monday. I’m hopeful. We’ll see.”

At this point, perhaps the biggest news item in the injury department concerns starting corner Darqueze Dennard. He had a small operation this offseason and was expected to take his time coming back, but it sounds like things are moving slower than expected, per Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com:

There seems to be a bit of concern for slot cornerback Darqueze Dennard (knee). While calling wide receiver John Ross (hamstring) day-to-day, he classified Dennard as week-to-week.

The Bengals had signed B.W. Webb before Dennard even re-upped and he’s playing well, but Dennard has been a solid staple of the defense for a while now.

Elsewhere, the Bengals will have Giovani Bernard and Joe Mixon available at running back, though they will hold out rookie Rodney Anderson again. They’re also holding out Carl Lawson until Week 3.
