Bengals injury report: Drew Sample joins list of players unlikely to play vs. Giants

The Cincinnati Bengals host the New York Giants on Thursday in the third week of the preseason.

Despite this week being more important than any other in the preseason, the Bengals will be without some notable names. That starts with rookies, as Trayveon Williams is out for the preseason. The team’s official website also confirmed second-round pick Drew Sample is an addition to the injury report and won’t go because of a hamstring.

Cornerback Darqueze Dennard still isn’t working and looks like a PUP list candidate. Wide receiver Cody Core and cornerback Darius Phillips are also sidelined with issues.

There’s also Cordy Glenn, whose random disappearance from the practice field earlier in the week turned out to be due to a self-reported concussion from the second preseason game. He’ll miss the rest of the preseason.

As for John Ross, the Bengals have revised the return timetable again and hope he can practice by early next week and still hold out hope he can make it to the team’s Week 1 opener.
