Bengals impressed with how Tee Higgins looks headed into second season

It’s hard not to feel some semblance of hype for Cincinnati Bengals wideout Tee Higgins as he heads into his sophomore season.

After looking like a first-rounder the team thought him to be last year while nearly breaking franchise records, Higgins showed up to OTAs stronger and faster than last year and has made it clear he wants to improve on making big plays down the field.

And it sure doesn’t hurt that Bengals head coach Zac Taylor has come away impressed with what he’s seen, too, according to The Athletic’s Jay Morrison:

“I thought Tee battled through that and had a really good year, particularly at the end. I’ve seen Tee come back in outstanding shape. He’s one of our most detailed receivers. He’s got a really high football IQ. It all makes sense to him. He wants to be detailed. I’m really excited to see what’s in store for him. We got a good receiving corps, but I think Tee has been really impressive so far this offseason.”

Taylor added some important context too — Higgins did his damage last year after a strange offseason with no preseason, plus had to battle a hamstring injury during that process.

Which is another way of saying it’s reasonable to expect it all starts coming together for Higgins in year two as he builds upon what was already a stellar debut season.
