Bengals immediately rule out Joe Burrow with knee injury

The Cincinnati Bengals ruled out quarterback Joe Burrow with a knee injury quickly after he left FedEx Field on a cart.

Burrow went down with the injury in the third quarter of his team’s game against the Washington Football Team. Based on his reaction, plus the reaction of those around him — and the broadcast taking a pass on showing the replay at all — it was clear Burrow was done for the day.

The Bengals won’t know the severity of the injury just yet, but the team needed to get the formality of making the announcement out of the way. Ryan Finley took up Burrow’s spot in the lineup in the interim.

It should go without saying, but the injury behind a poor offensive line shines a fresh spotlight on the roster-building approach and play of that line.
