Bengals’ huge streaming viewership on TNF shows Joe Burrow’s primetime appeal

The Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns made a little bit of history with their AFC North dance on the Week 2 edition of “Thursday Night Football.”

According to a release from NFL Media, the game raked in 7.2 million viewers, a number up three percent from the Week 2 game from last season.

And even better, digital streaming hit 522,000, which shattered records for an NFL Network exclusive game.

Rest assured a lot of the responsibility for these numbers can go to Bengals rookie passer Joe Burrow, who put on a show — and made some history — with his 61 pass attempts. He also managed to win over critics like Colin Cowherd.

Granted, Odell Beckham and the media circus that are the current Browns sure didn’t hurt either. But it’s a great sign for a Bengals team that doesn’t always get many primetime games in front of a national audience.
