Bengals head coach Zac Taylor points to Celtics’ Brad Stevens as inspiration

New Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor has an unexpected source of inspiration — Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens.

It’s a strange headline at the moment as Stevens’ Celtics worked through the NBA trade deadline this week, yet his name came up in Cincinnati as the Bengals made their coaching hire official:

Taylor noted in his press conference Tuesday he hasn’t actually met Stevens, yet enjoys the way the Celtics coach has handled interviews and leadership.

Stevens, 42, had massive expectations thrown at him upon arrival at the NBA level and over five seasons has made a conference title game two consecutive seasons and running.

Taylor, one of the NFL’s younger head coaches, finds himself in a similar position and is right to keep an eye on someone like Stevens.
