Bengals free-agent target Kenny Golladay chooses Giants

The Cincinnati Bengals had Detroit Lions wideout Kenny Golladay as a target but ultimatley won’t get him.

According to NFL reporter Josina Anderson, Golladay agreed to terms with the New York Giants after an extended visit with the team.

Golladay, arguably the market’s top wideout, emerged as a possibility Wednesday when it was revealed the Bengals had an offer on the table for him. Chad Johnson then tried to help recruit him. Behind the scenes, so did Joe Burrow himself.

And all that for good reason — Golladay is one of the NFL’s best big-play artists when he’s healthy. He had multiple 1,000-yard seasons and 16 total touchdowns over his last two healthy seasons and averages 16.8 yards per catch. Problem is, he only got in five games last season.

The Bengals saw the value in Golladay’s skillset and the impact it would have in Burrow’s offense, though. And the muted market for wideouts that made him affordable sure didn’t hurt.

Even Bengals fans started an incredible trending movement to encourage the signing. But Golladay will stick in the NFC while the Bengals have to look elsewhere for help.
