It is fair for Cincinnati Bengals fans to expect the team to be plenty active in making roster additions soon.
Those Bengals, after all, hold the No. 1 spot in waiver wire priority. It’s something they’ve used plenty in 2020, nabbing notables like cornerback Tony Brown.
And with cut-down days coming, the Bengals figure to be looking at all the cuts and making some decisions.
Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com pretty much put it perfectly: “Yes, you can pretty much expect them to grab a big body off the waiver wire if one surfaces.”
“Big body” because the team continues to hurt on the defensive interior after losing Ryan Glasgow and Renell Wren. The front office added Mike Daniels, but if another big name becomes available, the Bengals figure to pounce.
Similar conversation at cornerback after the loss of Trae Waynes and with Darius Phillips nursing minor injuries and LeShaun Sims out with what has been called “personal matters” for now.
Each team gets an expanded 16-man practice squad this year with added protection, but initially trying to slip veterans onto it subjects them to waivers. If a big name is there, the Bengals figure to flex their strong positioning and make adds.
