Bengals face Urban Meyer’s Jaguars and potentially Trevor Lawrence in 2021

The Cincinnati Bengals are scheduled to host the Jacksonville Jaguars at home during the 2021 NFL season.

That sort of sentence wouldn’t normally give reason for excitement.

But things just changed dramatically for those Jaguars. The team hired former Flordia and Ohio State coach Urban Meyer as head coach, shifting the outlook for the franchise in a big way.

Meaning, Meyer is now the face of the franchise in Jacksonville as the team gets set to likely take Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence with the No. 1 overall pick.

Lawrence would’ve given Joe Burrow a run for his money as the first pick had they been in the same draft class, so a No. 1 vs. No. 1 showdown might have already earned the Jaguars and Bengals a primetime slot in 2021.

Add in Meyer, though, and it would seem some sort of primetime slot is all but a guarantee.

Keep in mind Burrow was also a player under Meyer at Ohio State before he transferred to LSU after it was clear Dwayne Haskins would win the starting job, so there are plenty of interesting storylines to this 2021 matchup.

In short, the game against the Jaguars is one to keep a close eye on whenever the schedule gets announced. For now, here’s a full list of scheduled opponents.
