Bengals extend tender offers to Trey Hopkins, 4 others

The Cincinnati Bengals continue to make moves this offseason.

The Bengals have extended five tender offers, potentially locking in three defensive and two offensive players for at least one more year.

This is huge for the Bengals.

They needed to retain these five players, especially the two offensive linemen. Not star players yet, it’s unlikely many teams will be knocking down the door.

That said, the tender tag gives the Bengals an ability to receive a pick in compensation for the player if a team decides to sign the player this offseason. In order to maintain the restricted tag and potentially bring on additional picks, the players must have had a tender offer extended to them.

We saw this come to life last season as the Bengals received draft compensation for AJ McCarron, who initially signed with the Buffalo Bills last offseason.

Just as the offensive line needs help, the Bengals defense ranked as the league’s worst last season in yards per game. They need to maintain the depth for this upcoming season.

Let’s see if the Bengals can actually retain these five prospects.
