Bengals earn a boring tag in pre-camp power rankings

Here’s a new one — the Cincinnati Bengals are boring.

NFL power rankings, especially this offseason, usually express some concerns about the coachings staff or offensive line and call it a day.

Mike Florio at Pro Football Talk though, goes with the boring angle while ranking the team 29th:

29. Bengals (No. 28): Other than the pre-Mariota Titans, has there been a less interesting team in the last 30 years?

Call it a slight exaggeration, especially with the boring Miami Dolphins as one of the teams ranked below the Bengals in this offering.

Granted, the Bengals haven’t done much to appeal to a national audience. The two biggest stars — A.J. Green and Geno Atkins — are as quiet as it gets, minus an incident in Jacksonville once. The coaching staff isn’t any louder than Marvin Lewis’ staff. The first-round pick was an offensive lineman, who promptly got hurt.

But the reality? These Bengals have always seemed to grasp for the underdog role, not try to avoid it. The low ranking was a given as it seems to be annually, but they’ll gladly take the quiet approach as they attempt to right the ship under the guidance of a new coaching staff.
