The Cincinnati Bengals defense continues to terrorize the offense during training camp so far.
And one big part of that, besides roster upgrades? Accountability and better communication.
Former Steelers corner Mike Hilton is providing a big dose of accountability by coming up with a fine system for his secondary.
And linebacker Germaine Pratt told ESPN’s Ben Baby that all involved are communicating better this year, not taking things personally and using criticism to improve: “People would point fingers if somebody messed up and wouldn’t uplift you.”
It’s a pretty interesting comment, to say the least. Baby also noted that safety Vonn Bell hinted at this sort of thing:

Call it a maturation process for a defense that continues to get a complete makeover. Things aren’t ever going to be perfect, but the communication being handled properly is how the entire unit will improve.
And given the way the defense has dominated the offense, this positive shift — not just talent additions — is a big reason for the early results.
