Bengals climb ranks of oldest teams without a title after Blues win Stanley Cup

The Cincinnati Bengals continued a slow climb up the ladder in an all-time mark this week with the St. Louis Blues taking home the Stanley Cup.

It is not a great distinction either, as the Bengals are now one of the four oldest teams in the big four that have yet to win a title, as The Athletic’s Jay Morrison tweeted.

Those Blues were established in 1967 and just captured their first league championship. Since 1968, the Bengals have just two conference titles (1981, 1988) and no league titles. They’ve won the division nine times, four times under Marvin Lewis in the AFC North and five times in the AFC Central from 1970-1990.

The Bengals will now attempt to get away from this dubious honor across four different sports under new coach Zac Taylor.
