Bengals claim Brad Kaaya off waivers

The first transaction of the Zac Taylor era for the Cincinnati Bengals is an unexpected one.

According to a new report, the Bengals put in a claim on former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Brad Kaaya:

Kaaya, a sixth-round pick in 2017 out of Miami, got drafted by Detroit but didn’t make the final roster. He’s since had stints with Carolina, Detroit again and now Indianapolis before this latest stop.

Considering Taylor and several names on the revamped coaching staff specialize in quarterbacks, this classifies as an interesting transaction. Behind Andy Dalton, the Bengals still have Jeff Driskel and Tom Savage.

That said, the Bengals had already tried to use the waiver wire near the start of February by putting a claim in on linebacker Tanner Vallejo.
