Cincinnati Bengals’ team chaplain LaMorris Crawford contracted coronavirus in mid-March and required multiple hospital visits during his battle writ the ongoing pandemic.
Crawford recounted his experience to Tyler Dragon of the Cincinnati Enquirer, admitting he thought he was going to die in the illness’s worst moments.
Crawford says he initially tested negative for flu and strep throat but the positive COVID-19 result took longer to come back. The result wasn’t a shocker, though contracting it all was.
He used the platform to speak on social responsibility during these trying times.
“It’s not about you, it’s about us…We are also taught in the Bible to submit and honoring government authority. With social media and social conferencing, it would be the wise thing to still teach and preach the message, but let’s do it in a wise way to where we think about others. This virus is so sneaky that there’s no point in taking a chance of passing it, especially in a church setting.”
Crawford, serving as Bengals chaplain for seven seasons, has long been involved in must-known projects, such as teaming with Giovani Bernard to install a water purification system in Tabarre, Haiti.
Optimistic football will return by training camp, Crawford is a close-to-home positive story to promote as the globe grapples with COVID-19.
