Bengals ascend to top 2 in power rankings after latest win

The Cincinnati Bengals have the full faith of those in charge of the power rankings now.

Those Bengals didn’t get much respect to start the year after that 0-2 start but they’re impossible to deny now after winning five straight to hit 9-4.

In consecutive weeks, the Bengals have taken down the Chiefs yet again and finally overcame the Browns for what feels like the first time in years.

As such, they’re up from four to second in the power rankings from USA Today’s Nate Davis:

2. Bengals (4): Who’s the best team in the AFC? Shrug. Who’s the only team in the conference that’s won five straight and appears to be recapturing the form that paved the road to Super Bowl 56? Yep, these guys. And it does seem like DE Trey Hendrickson will be able to play through a fractured wrist, and that WRs Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd won’t miss significant time with their own nagging ailments. Good news if this team hopes to keep its division crown and open the postseason in Cincinnati.”

It’s totally fair to tab the Bengals as the best in the AFC right now. Buffalo is right there with them, but they’re missing key defensive pieces like Von Miller and Micah Hyde.

As of right now, the Bengals only appear to be getting better after winning the conference last year. Until they lose, the power rankings won’t have much wiggle room in moving them back down.
