Bengals aren’t letting Jonah Williams answer injury questions

The injury mystery surrounding Cincinnati Bengals first-round pick Jonah Williams continues to grow.

Tuesday, word broke Williams is dealing with some sort of issue head coach Zac Taylor didn’t want to speculate about while his first-round pick underwent more testing.

Wednesday, reporters such as Laurel Pfahler of The Athletic noted Bengals PR wouldn’t let Williams field questions about the situation.

What reporters did get from Williams was limited. From Joe Kay of the Associated Press: ”’Just doing what I can right now,”’ said Williams, who occasionally stretched his back while watching practice in the afternoon.”

It doesn’t sound like Williams has been officially diagnosed with anything yet, which is a bit odd because the reports Tuesday made it sound like this has been going on for a week or so.

Whether this is something concerning in June is hard to say. Williams will clearly miss the physical side of all three days of mandatory camp, though the team then gets a big break before training camp starts.

Unless something changes quickly, fans might not hear what’s really going on for a month or so.
