Bengals announce Brian Callahan as OC, make three other coaching moves

The Cincinnati Bengals coaching staff under Zac Taylor is starting to come together.

Thursday, the Bengals announced four moves along the coaching staff, headlined by Brian Callahan as offensive coordinator:

The four expected moves are as follows:

  • OC Brian Callahan
  • OL Jim Turner
  • TE James Casey
  • Asst OL Ben Martin

Though Taylor says he will call plays, Callahan is a younger coach who comes over from Oakland and has prior experience coaching Matthew Stafford in Detroit. He’s merely the latest younger coach with quarterbacking experience the Bengals have added this offseason. Funnily enough, we learned about this weeks ago because Jon Gruden let it slip.

As for the offensive line, Jim Turner replaces Frank Pollack, coming over from Texas A&M. James Casey is a former NFL player turned college coach.

For now, there haven’t been any surprises in this search, with defensive coordinator still the most important — especially after Dom Capers reportedly turned down a chance at the job.
