Bengals announce Billy Price will start over Michael Jordan in Week 6

The Cincinnati Bengals will make yet another change to the offensive line in front of Andy Dalton for the Week 6 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.

Wednesday, head coach Zac Taylor announced 2018 first-round pick Billy Price will get the nod at left guard over rookie Michael Jordan.

He explained his decision to the media:

“It’s not one person. We’ve got guard depth. We’ve always had a lot of confidence in (Price). We’ve got a lot of confidence in Mike Jordan. It’s just something we wanted to look at this week. Billy has continued to earn an opportunity.”

While Jordan is a feel-good story for a rookie, he’s struggled tremendously in recent weeks. A continued shuffling of names next to him at left tackle probably hasn’t helped, but it seems the coaching staff has seen enough. He has also been playing through injury.

Price hasn’t looked much better in spot duty lately, but there was always the sense the Bengals would go back to the first-round product at some point. He’s not going to knock Trey Hopkins out of the center spot, so it was always left guard.

The Bengals want to stay in-house with their line solutions right now. How Price fares in Baltimore could solidify things or encourage another change, as coaches haven’t ruled out week-to-week shuffling.
