Bengals add Tony Lippett, drop Chris Worley

The Cincinnati Bengals made a small roster move near the start of the week, getting the defensive secondary some help in the form of cornerback Tony Lippett.

In the process, the team dropped notable Ohio State product Chris Worley.

The team’s official website offered details on Lippett:

Lippett (6-3, 192), a fifth-year pro, was originally a fifth-round draft pick of the Miami Dolphins in 2015. He spent his first two seasons (2015-16) with Miami, and then played part of last season with the N.Y. Giants. He’s played in 28 career games (13 starts) and totaled 81 tackles, 12 passes defensed and four INTs.

Also notable besides that experience in Miami is the fact Lippett worked with Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo with the New York Giants. He’s one of the latest former Anarumo understudies — alongside B.W. Webb and Kerry Wynn — to land a gig in Cincinnati.

As for Worley, he joined the team last year out of undrafted free agency and considering it was one of the team’s worst spots, it’s notable the front office was willing to pluck him off the 91-man roster.
