Bengals add offensive line depth after Alex Redmond’s suspension

The Cincinnati Bengals made a slight roster move in the wake of the NFL handing Alex Redmond a four-game ban.

With Redmond on the shelf, the Bengals added former undrafted free agent Justin Evans to the offensive line and waived tight end Andrew Vollert.

Evans is a 6’5″, 310-pound tackle prospect who landed a deal with the Baltimore Ravens after the 2018 draft but didn’t make it through final cuts before bouncing around with other franchises.

Tight end was an obvious place to free up some roster space on the 91-man depth chart. Tyler Eifert and C.J. Uzomah are back. Second-round pick Drew Sample has arrived as well, with Mason Schreck, Jordan Franks and Cethan Carter all vying for spots, too.

If Evans can continue this upward developmental curve, he could be in the conversation during final cuts again, so the move makes plenty of sense.
