Benfica's Alfa Semedo wanted by Sassuolo and Besiktas as Nottingham Forest loan ends

Former Nottingham Forest loanee Alfa Semedo is a wanted man as the midfielder continues to be linked with another move away from Benfica.

According to reports in Italy, the midfielder is wanted by Serie A's Sassuolo and Turkish side Besiktas after he returned to Portugal following his loan spell at the City Ground.

Semedo made 26 appearances and scored two goals  for the Reds under boss Sabri Lamouchi  last term having arrived with left-back Yuri Ribeiro from Benfica as part of a double summer swoop.

He played his part in helping them climb into the Championship play-off positions only for Forest to suffer an extraordinary collapse on the final day which saw them miss out on a top-six finish.

The former Espanyol player still has three years left on his contract to run at Benfica who have forged strong links with Forest and could be set to send attacking midfielder David Tavares to the club this summer.

He was left out of the squad for their friendly against Bournemouth as speculation mounts that a switch to the Reds is close.
