Benfica make transfer decision on star amid Man Utd and Man City interest

Benfica are set to offer Joao Felix a bumper new contract in a bid to ward off interest from Manchester United and Manchester City .

The 19-year-old forward only made his debut for the Portuguese giants last August but has been turning heads ever since.

He became the youngest player ever to score a hat-trick in the Europa League during last month’s 4-2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt.

His performances have alerted the attention of Europe’s biggest teams, with Juventus and Real Madrid also believed to be keeping tabs on the youngster.

But, according to Portuguese daily A Bola , Benfica are prepared to hand the teenager a new £2.1million-a-season contract to keep him at the club next season.

The club have already slapped a whopping £103million price tag on the highly-rated attacker, but they’re keen to get at least one more season out of him.

United are keen on bolstering their attacking ranks this season, and have made the youngster their No.1 target.

Felix has received praise from a number of high profile figures within the game, including Joao Tralhao, who coached him in the youth team.

Tralhao said: "He's a very talented player, very technical player. His decision making qualities are absolutely amazing, outstanding. Elite level for sure."

Felix has 18 goals in all competitions this season, and has also provided 11 assists in what has been a remarkable season.
