Benfica left-back Yuri Ribeiro latest youngster linked with Nottingham Forest switch

Benfica left-back Yuri Ribeiro is the latest name to be linked with a move to Championship side Nottingham Forest.

The 22-year-old has fallen out of favour at the Estádio da Luz and will move to the City Ground with both loan and permanent moves open, according to respected Portuguese newspaper Record.

Ribeiro endured a tough campaign in Lisbon last term, playing just twice under boss Bruno Lage, with both games coming in Europa League wins over Galatasaray and Dinamo Zagreb in the second half of the season.

Despite training with his Benfica teammates on Saturday, the Swiss-born Portugal Under-21 international will not be involved against Anderlecht on Wednesday evening, say Record, as the club continues its pre-season campaign.

Should Ribeiro arrive at Forest this week, he could become the second arrival from Benfica with Alfa Semedo strongly linked with a City Ground loan switch, joining Tiago Silva, who completed his move to Nottingham on Friday, as new boss Sabri Lamouchi gets to work on reshaping his squad ahead of next month's Championship opener.

Semedo’s representative Sebastião Adilé claimed a loan deal was done and that the 21-year-old would arrive in England on Monday to rubber-stamp the move.

“There is already an agreement with Nottingham Forest, it’s closed for a one-year loan with no purchase option,” he said.
