Benefit’s best-selling Bad Gal Bang mascara now comes in a waterproof form - and we test it out

Hands up if you have a holiday planned at some point this year? Or at least dreaming of one? Us too. And there’s nothing worse than sweating your makeup off or ruining your mascara at a pool party - thankfully that’s a thing of the past with Benefit’s new Bad Gal Bang Waterproof mascara.

Since the original launched in 2018, Benefit have volumised 52 million individual lashes - so it was about time a waterproof version came out.

OK! Beauty Director Lynne Hyland put it to a side-by-side test with the original and was surprised by the results. She said: “I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve tried the pool-proof version of a favourite mascara, only to discover it’s less a twin and more an ugly sister.”

When she tried the new waterproof version of Benefit’s best-selling mascara, she noticed that it “goes on with the same lovely feel, gives the same volume and lift, and has the same super-black pigment as the original. Twins? You bet.”

Priced at £24.50, it doesn’t come cheap - but who wants that dreaded panda eye look when they’re posing for pictures on the ‘gram?

Lynne went on to add that “I shouldn’t have been so dubious because the original mascara is actually pretty water-resistant and I’ve worn it in the pool before without emerging with panda eyes. Hmm. I guess I’ll just have to book a sunshine holiday, pack both mascaras and make a forensic comparison of how well they fare in the water.”

Benefit have said that its latest mascara has 36-hour, volumising wear, and the gravity-defying formula features an ultralight aero-particles that create major volume without weighing it down.

The custom ‘slimpact’ brush is streamlined to reach root-to-tip, corner-to-corner - plus your top and bottom, lashes.

To coincide with this new launch, Benefit have also launched the new They’re Real Xtreme Precision Liner in waterproof too!

The sleek, glide on ultra-pigmented liner features a 0.1mm tapered brush tip that’s been created for comfort and extreme precision.

The innovative design maximises pigment flow, with precise control - without dragging the skin on your eyes.

There are 53 fins (ridges) at 0.1mm intervals inside the barrel to help prevent leakage, with no spills - or ruining your handbag or makeup bag.

Not to mention 325 ultra-fine bristles for comfort and enough firmness when applying your liner.

How good is that? Priced at just £22, it’s also available now from Benefit's website - and both products are available from various retailers including Boots, John Lewis, Feel Unique, LookFantastic to name a few.
